About Pressure Volume Temperature (PVT) testing and analysis

Accurate and reliable phase behavior and volumetric data are essential elements for proper management of petroleum reservoirs. The information is required to evaluate reserves, to develop the optimum recovery plan, and to determine the quality and quantity of produced fluids. Most reservoirs are produced by depletion in which the reservoir pressure declines as fluids are recovered with the temperature staying practically constant. The main variable that influences the behavior of fluids, under reservoir conditions during depletion, is the reservoir pressure. PVT analysis simulates recovery conditions by varying the fluid pressure.

What is PVT analysis used for?

Evaluation of production and reserves for new reservoirs
Evaluation of production and reserves for mature reservoirs
Reservoir performance comparison studies
Secondary and tertiary reservoir recovery schemes
Production economics and informed downstream planning
